Invitation to Realistik Communication

First let me say that there will be controversial issues discussed on this blog. So if you have thin skin or are ignorant and don’t want to listen then please exit. I still luv u.

You still here? Good. The purpose of this blog is to have real communication about a myriad of topics. The reason I started this is because in my opinion no one is all right and therefore no one is all wrong. Points of view are as individual as the people who hold them. No two people have the exact same views on everything, and that’s healthy. Otherwise you are an android. Not the phone, but think Alien 2, or was it 3? Anyway you get my point.

In my opinion communication is the best sense we possess. Yes, I said sense. It opens up new pathways in our neural processor, you know, our brains. I have a theory that if you communicate with as many people as you can, really take in what they say even if you disagree that you open up new thought processes for yourself. Maybe even become able to use more of that big brain of yours.

So, welcome. Please share your thoughts, ideals and opinions on the topics I post. I will definitely be sharing mine. Please maintain respect for every individual in this space. If you don’t I will come down on your like a hammer. I have a billion great insults that I would love to share if you dare personally attack anyone.

Thanks and happy communicating.

Personhood

The Pro-Lifers have a new cause. It is the Personhood Initiative. The movement is attempting to get states to vote to give personhood rights to fetuses. What this means is that a fetus, no matter how conceived, will be a person with equal rights to the parents. It sounds like a nice concept. Because, I agree with most in saying that life technically begins at conception. As in, it is alive. But Houston, we have a problem.

Giving Personhood to a fetus means no more abortions. I know, possibly not such a bad thing. It also means no IUDs, and a few other forms of birth control that does not stop conception but stops implantation in the uterus. It also means that fertility clinics will have to use all the viable embryos. It also means that if a woman has a miscarriage, or spontaneous abortion, that there might need to be an investigation into the cause. Really?

I came across a fellow bloggers site and he poses what I believe is a very good question. Is the egg we eat a chicken? Is a seed a tree? Because technically they are. And we eat them just the same (but never seen anyone chewing on a pine twig).

My real issue with this is that in all their fervor to save the lives of the unborn they have forgotten the MOST important issue: the child.

Let’s be realistic. What do you think is the outcome of such a law? Well if there is no legal abortion then back alley abortions will just make a huge come back. Including all the death and diseases it had before. Those who can’t save up for it will be forced to carry a fetus to term that they do not want. Do you think that woman will seek proper prenatal care? Probably not (especially considering how these same folks who want to do away with abortion also want to do away with assistance programs). Do you think that woman will stop smoking, drinking and drugging? Probably not. That means the child will be born with physical impairments.

So now we have a new-born baby with fetal alcohol syndrome who might or might not have been born inside of a medical facility up for adoption. Because you see, they say there is no need to abort because there is adoption and millions of families seeking children. Hmm… but realistically how many families who are capable and prepared to adopt will take the screaming, disabled black baby? That was my thought too.

So now you have a child growing up in the foster care system, being tossed from home to home until they get into trouble and land in juvenile. That same child is more likely to make a child of their own before they are even out of their teen years. Then, repeat.

I believe life is precious. I really do. I believe it within itself is a miracle. I also know that there will be thousands of unwanted ethnic children flooding the already overloaded foster care system. Perhaps, you personhooders, you can prove me wrong by going out and adopting as many children as you can now. Perhaps I would feel differently if there weren’t already a million kids in the foster care system that will never be placed in a permanent home.

I know, they’d rather go to other countries to adopt because it’s just so hard to do in the States. Are they going to attack those laws next? It’s only rational. Otherwise my predictions are destined. And to me that’s even more depressing than thinking about how many abortions are performed a day.

Real Reform

The argument of tax reform is all over the place. To increase or to decrease that is the new issue. Those for decreasing taxes says that by doing so the job creators will create more jobs. Those for increasing say that by increasing taxes it will allow money to flow to those less fortunate. But why would it?

If we did increase taxes wouldn’t the government just spend it up going to war with Martians or something? Wouldn’t they just put it in new contracts with friends to build stuff? I mean, look at the track record. For that reason I am proposing a new type of reform. People reform.

I know. We can’t reform people, right? Wrong. We can, we just don’t want to. We are people. We are selfish inconsiderate  money-hoarding monsters who do not want to change. Well, in my opinion if we don’t we will see our great empires rise to great failures. We will perish.

In this section I will be discussing issues that need attention and reform. I don’t have all the answers. I am not a political scientist, or economist, or brain surgeon. I’m just a person, trying to living in a world of careless people. So feel free to add your ideals. Perhaps we the people can find the solution the brainiacs seem to be missing.

Point of View

There are approximately 312 million people in this country which means there are about 312 million points of view. In my wise opinion it’s not the apple that changes but where you’re standing when you look at it. What do I mean by that?

Well in effect I mean that the issue remains the same but whether it is right or wrong depends on where the person is when they talk about it. Points of view are affected by preconceived notions, personal experiences, and upbringing. For that reason there can not be a right-wrong-up-down-black-white way to approach any situation because the true answer depends largely on who is asked.

Take something controversial like cannibalism. Many would say it’s wrong to eat human flesh, I say that if the plane crashes and Joe’s dead then it’s dinner time. Self preservation plays a large role in national preservation.

Of course the 1% are fighting the 99%! Wouldn’t you? Of course the Democrats are fighting the Republicans! It’s less about policy they don’t “agree” with and more about “issues” they don’t agree with. Again, each side, each person actually, is looking at that apple from a different perspective.

I suggest instead of angrily insisting your correctness you instead listen to the other perspective, research, attempt to set aside your personal feelings and make a rational judgement.

And yes, I realize that by doing so many of you will realize that you are wrong. So be it. Be wrong but aware. Better than being right only to yourself.

TeenAngst Years

Scenario: Your teenager just came home from school and dropped his book bag, shoes and coat on the floor by the front door. He then went into the kitchen to prepare a snack with unwashed hands and managed to somehow use every clean dish and utensil. But without getting a plate he walks through the house dripping mustard as he goes back to his room you asked him to clean two weeks ago.

What to do?

Solution A: Clean it up while fussing to yourself about ungrateful brats.

Solution B: Leave it there and march back to demand he clean it up himself.

Solution C (and my personal favorite): Grab all that shit, even the dirty dishes and drop it on his bed.

Parenting is not an easy occupation. It has ups and downs and unfair wages and there’s no freaking union to join. Children can be rude and disrespectful. Downright mean and abusive. But alas, fear not, so can you.

If your child chooses to live in a dirty room, just keep the door shut with them in it.

If your child can’t fix a snack without ravaging your day’s hard labor of cleaning the kitchen then make them eat bread. Plain bread. And eat it over the sink to reduce crumb droppage (new word!).

If your child wants to smack their lips and sigh at every request. Return the favor when they ask if they can go out that night.

If your child wants to slam the door. Take it off the hinges.

All is fair in love and war, especially in my house. The rule goes, if you don’t like it too bad because you live it.

No but really, I suggest all parents who are struggling with their teenagers take these steps.

1. Write a list of clear rules, regulations and demands. Also write a list of appropriate disciplinary actions if a rule, regulation or demand is ignored.

2. Negotiate. Discuss with that teenager your new lists and ask which items seem fair and which do not. Do not budge on items of safety but there may be some requests you are making that through discussion you might want to relax on.

3. Draw up a social contract. Include peaceful ways to handle disagreements. What to do if a unaddressed situation comes up. And sign. Put that bad boy on the fridge and refer to it as much as necessary.

4. Stick to it. If they have a 10pm curfew do not allow exceptions unless it is written in the contract. If they break the agreement come down on them like a hammer.

Teenagers are actually young adults. Pretty soon they will be living out in the world and outside of your protection. They need to learn the life skills needed to survive in this hellish place. So prepare them.

To Occupy or Not To Occupy

So, there’s this movement going on called Occupy Wall Street or OWS. It has spread like a virus globally. I mean, really, it’s in a lot of big cities and gaining momentum quickly.

Now there are no official demands being given at this time. At least, none that I am aware of. And there are a lot of people who disagree with this movement. I actually watched a few “news” commentators straight laugh at them. I know right?

What do I think of it, you ask? Well in my opinion I LOVE IT! No, I do not agree with everything everyone there is calling for. As there is no clear leader or demands there are many people holding individual signs with individual requests. And no, I do not agree with them all. That’s my choice.

What I love about it is that it’s started this AWESOME communication. They are talking about this everywhere. Even if they are talking negatively, they are talking. And communication is the path to enlightenment.

In later posts, maybe even some today, I am going to go in detail about different issues in the movement I agree and disagree with. Throughout our communications I’m going to bring up many topics to delve into. But this first one I just have to know, what do you think about OWS?
